About

Hello Friends,

I’d like to officially welcome you to StopThe Gain.com and the journal of my struggle to get back into shape and shed some of the weight I’ve put on over the years. The past 11 years I’ve been working in front of a computer in my home office and it’s contributed to me going from 169 lbs to 230 lbs over that time. I don’t consider myself a “bad” eater, since I avoid (I don’t have the desire) stuff most people would consider “junk” food. My problem is the lack of exercise, eating habits (when I eat and the amounts) and the hectic schedule I work.

I’m documenting my journey with the hopes that many of you may join me and offer support and encouragement where needed. I fully understand that this is not a short term thing and hopefully I can stick it out and make the necessary changes in my lifestyle to see me live a long and healthy life. I encourage you to leave me your comments in the area provided after each post I make, and do use the contact link above if you ever feel you’d like to get in contact with me personally.

My aim is to show you that living healthy simply means making subtle changes to your lifestyle and finding things to do that does not seem like EXERCISE. I’ve been paying for a gym membership (one of the fancy ones) for the past couple years and in total I doubt I’ve been in there for more that 1 months. Hopefully I will now have the drive to visit that place and get some value for the monthly fees I pay. Additionally I’ll be joining my wife as she does her P90X training (lets hope I can keep up) and will share my thoughts on that system with you as well. BTW, if you have any tips as far as the P90X training system goes, do pass it along to me.

P2140324 300x225 AboutI love the outdoors and sports, so don’t be surprised if I take you along with me (pictures and video) when I start back enjoying these activities.

I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by people who care about me enough to say “YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING” about your weight (at least they didn’t pussy-foot), a wonderful wife I want to grow old with and teenage daughters that I must be around for as long as possible.Though it may seem rude, there are times when you must call a spade a spade.

I also hate the example I’m setting for those around me, especially our daughters with my disregard for living a more active and healthy lifestyle. How can I complain when I see them in font of the tv in their spare time, when I do the same thing, but in front of a computer monitor?

Regards
Chris
